Mar. 5, 2024Vermont/EE.UU: Cerca de US$ 70 millones en pérdidas por inundaciones en berries y otros cultivos
The Extreme weather during the 2023 growing season devastated Vermont’s already strained food system and agricultural economy. Vermont experienced not one, but two separate Federal Disaster Declarations this year. Estimated financial impacts of the losses this growing season are upwards of $69,000,000 across Vermont’s food system. Many farms are out of options to continue producing or return to production.
They are overfinanced, underinsured, and in danger of losing their livelihoods. Agriculture is a strong economic driver for Vermont but unfortunately, many of our critical food businesses are at risk without immediate financial relief and resiliency planning.
