USDA reporta baja en área de hortalizas para proceso
US VEGETABLE processors have contracted for 1.02 million acres to be planted to the five major vegetable crops – snap beans, sweet corn, cucumbers for pickles, green peas, and tomatoes this year. This figure is down 8% from 2010, according to a report by the USDA.
Excess rain and cooler-than-normal temperatures across the country resulted in delayed spring planting in many vegetable-growing states and crop development has also been affected, it said.
