USDA anticipa aumento de 5% en Florida
THE USDA has released its initial citrus crop forecast for the 2011-12 season, estimating Florida will produce 147 million boxes of oranges, a 5% increase from last season.
“This number is not a surprise. We have had good rain over the summer and a large bloom in the spring so this is pretty close to what we expected,” said Michael Sparks, chief executive of Florida Citrus Mutual, the growers’ organisation. “At his size, with our inventories, we would hope that the market will continue to put upward pressure on grower returns.”
