Tomates/Panamá: productores esperan cosechar 12.000 toneladas en 2014
Industrial tomato producers in Panama’s central-southern province of Los Santos hope to exceed last year’s 7,500 tonne production and harvest around 12,000 tonnes of the crop in 2014, officials from the sector announced.
Pedro Castillo, ex-president of the region’s tomato producers association, said that tomato farmers in Los Santos planted 230 hectares with the crop this season. Farmers expect to sell their entire produce to Nestlé Panama for processing.
