Serbia podría experimentar un aumento en la exportación de frambuesas si inviertiera en modernizar el sector productivo
Serbia could see a four-fold increase in raspberry exports to USD500 million if it invests in the modernisation of its outdated raspberry production sector, according to a new assessment by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (PKS).
Serbia currently earns between USD120-140 million from raspberry exports in an average year, said Vojislav Stankovic, agri-business advisor to the PKS president. He added that Serbia is currently the third largest producer of raspberries in the world, trailing only Poland and Russia. The acreage devoted to raspberries in Serbia averaged around 15,000 hectares in the past five years, while the average production amounts to 81,000 tonnes.
