The story begins like this:
The French partners, with more than 30 years’ experience in fruit puree processing, particularly apple puree, wanted to reach the American market in a competitive way, as the high export duties involved in exporting from Europe were keeping them out of the business.

It was then that the idea of setting up production from this part of the world arose, and Chile seemed interesting. On the one hand, Chile’s FTA with USA allows it to enter that market at lower costs and, on the other hand, it has good quality fruit at lower prices than Europe.
This is where Surfrut comes into the picture as, in addition to being one of the country’s most important apple processing companies, it has the know-how in organic fruit-growing, something the French were also interested in.
“The association was something natural”, Hervé Collin, General Manager to the new company, explains today.
Moreover, it is already a fact. The new plant is functioning, with extraction technology which maintains the product’s organoleptic properties, original color, scent, and texture, at a reduced energy cost.
Currently, the company is producing apple puree [JC1] to be sold in bulk. Also, at the end of this year, it intends to place, in the United States as well as in the Latin American market, 100ml bags of apple puree and others with mixtures of different fruits offered as snacks. This type of packaging allows the organoleptic conditions of fresh apples to be preserved and delivered to the final consumer in a comfortable and hygienic manner.
Through this joint venture, Surfrut will provide the market with its vast experience in apple processing, while offering consumers a product with a high nutritional value, a wonderful flavor and texture, and very easy to handle.
