Producción de conservas continuará cayendo esta temporada
GREEK canned apricot production will continue to decline this season, following the trend of the past two years, while higher sugar, tinplate and fuel prices will push up production costs.
Apricot harvesting is now underway in the European country with around 5 companies planning on canning the fruit this year. The quality of the fruit is said to be good, although final production will be lower than the 500 000 24 x 1kg cases produced in 2009/10 and 585 000 cases in 2008/09 (FOODNEWS 17 September, 2010).
