THE final tonnage for this year’s Californian canning peach harvest is estimated at 391 400 short tons, which is 6% below the preseason estimate of 417 067 tons. The California League of Food Processors’ figures show that this season’s peach deliveries of 391 354 tons are 9% lower than last year’s crop of 430 072 tons.
The harvest has now been concluded, with the average yield pegged at 17.5 ton/acre compared to last year’s rate of 18.9 ton/acre, which represents a fall of 7%, the California Canning Peach Association (CCPA) reports in the monthly Peach Fuzz newsletter.
