Jul. 4, 2012Naranjas/Brasil: estiman producción 2012 en 365,25 millones de cajas, esto es 5,1% menos que el año pasado
SAO Paulo’s agriculture secretariat’s estimate for the current orange crop is 365.25 million boxes (40.8kg), down 5.1% from last year’s 384.87 million boxes. The new estimate, which was released on 29 June, is based on the results of a survey conducted in April across all 645 municipalities of São Paulo state.
Most of this year’s production, or 96% (352.50 million boxes), is considered commercial grade fruit that could end up in the market, according to the authors of the new forecast – São Paulo’s Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA) and the Integral Technical Assistance Coordination office (CATI) of the Secretariat of Agriculture. The remaining 4% refer to losses and non-commercial citrus production.
