THERE is concern in some quarters that California’s raisin industry will be short of supplies for at least the next five years, as the state’s wine industry demands more grapes. Overall grape acreage has been in decline since 2000, according to a report by the Agricultural Issues Center (AIC), while almond, pistachio and walnut production continue to expand.
