India: 1.100 hectáres con cultivos de frutas han sido dañadas por granizo
1,100 ha of fruit cultivation in Kashmir has been damaged as a result of recent hailstorms, officials have reported.
“As per the rough estimates, the fruit crops over 1,100 hectares of area have suffered extensive loss due to wind and hailstorm in Shopian district a couple of days back,” an official spokesman said after a high-level meeting chaired by horticulture minister Sham Lal Sharma.
The meeting was convened to take stock of the situation and work out any potential compensation plans.
The director of horticulture for the region has been tasked with personally overseeing the investigation in order to secure compensation payments to growers as swiftly as possible.
