In the first half year of 2011 the export of Dutch strawberries was 25% bigger than in the first half of 2010. Especially the export to Belgium (+48%) increased.
This export to Belgium will for the better part be exported again via Belgian auction houses, for instance to Germany. The direct export to Germany (-12%) is smaller than last year. More Dutch strawberries were exported to Norway (+116%), Sweden (+20%), Switzerland (+74%) and France (+88%). The United Kingdom (-15%) bought less.
Import in the Netherlands and Sweden
The Netherlands have imported 23% more strawberries in 2010 than in 2009. Spain (+10%) is the most important supplier to the Dutch market. Import from Belgium is reasonably stable (-2%). Actually more strawberries were imported from Poland and Portugal. Sweden imported less (-4%) in 2010. Import from Belgium increased (+34%) at the cost of the import from the Netherlands (-27%). Italy
(-22%) and Poland (-74%).
