Exportación creció 100% entre enero y mayo 2011
Between January and May, exports of canned peppers (mainly capsicum pepper, piquillo pepper Bell), reached US$39.6 million, 113.0% more than the same period last year.
The increase in exports of canned peppers was explained by the increased demand in Germany (over 1,000% growth in export volume), Argentina (240.9% growth), Spain (140.7%), Puerto Rico (125.4%), Belgium (128.9%) and Canada (101.1%). The main markets during the analyzed period were Spain (42.1%) and the U.S. (34.9%), it should be noted that this last position reported a growth of 31.3% in the volume of exported canned peppers. The good quality of piquillo pepper and more preferably in the U.S. and European markets will boost the export of the product in subsequent years.
In 2010 exports of canned peppers grew US$83.4 million, 8.3% from the previous year and reached 45.8 thousand volumes of MT. The main exporters of canned peppers were Gandules (26.5%), Eco Acuícola (20.5% part.), Camposol (17.2%), Sociedad Agrícola Virú (12.7%), Consorcio Murcia (6.7%), Danper Trujillo (5.9%) and Agroindustrias AIB (5.2%), according to alert@economica
