Study participants who were asked to compare conventional and organic food described organic cookies, potato chips and yogurt as being tastier, higher in fiber and lower in calories and fat, even though the two groups were actually identical. The study indicates organic labels carry a “halo effect” that leads consumers to perceive additional positive characteristics of the food.
