España: exportación de frutas y hortalizas en junio, creció 13% en relación al mismo período en 2011 alcanzando 819.932 toneladas –
Spanish fruit and vegetable exports in June grew by 13% compared to the same month in 2011, totalling 666.3 million Euro and 10% in volume with 819,932 tonnes, according to the latest data from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes processed by FEPEX.
The sharp increase observed in June is due to the normalisation of the markets after overcoming the consequences of the E. coli crisis of the previous year.
Vegetable exports in June rose by 26% in value and 22% in volume, totalling 165 million Euro and 226,639 tonnes respectively. The value of fruit exports rose by 9%, totalling 501 million Euro and a 6% in volume with 593,293 tonnes.
In the January-June period, exports grew by 5% in value and volume, reaching 3,776 million Euro and 5.9 million tonnes. Vegetable exports stood at 2.5 million tonnes (+2.5%) with a value of 2,356 million Euro (+5.8%) and fruit exports reached 3.3 million tonnes (+6.7%) and a value of 1,857 million Euro (+6.8%).
For FEPEX, the data from the month of June give evidence that the consequences of the E. coli crisis were more severe than admitted and have not been sufficiently compensated by the Agricultural Policy measures adopted for that purpose.
