Cítricos/Brasil: productores en Sao Paulo han tenido que arrancar 3,7 millones de árboles con síntomas de Huanglongbing el primer semestre 2013
Citrus producers in São Paulo have uprooted 3.7 million citrus trees with symptoms of Huanglongbing (HLB, or greening) in the first half of 2013, down from 4.0 mln trees in the second half of 2012, according to disease monitoring reports submitted by producers to São Paulo’s agriculture defence coordination body (CDA).
The CDA announced that 219.3 mln citrus plants were inspected between January and June 2013, or 12.3 mln trees less than in the second half of 2012. A further 15.1 mln citrus trees were uprooted because of other diseases and reasons, up from 14.5 mln citrus plants in the second half of 2012. Citrus growers also replanted 1.2 mln citrus trees in the first half of this year, up from 1.1 mln plants in the preceding six-month period.
