Ciruelas/Serbia: esperan producción 2013 de 550.000 toneladas, comparado con 391.485 toneladas el año pasado
SERBIA’S plum harvest this year could reach 550,000 tonnes, significantly better than last year when production amounted to just 391,485 tonnes, market analysts in Belgrade have announced.
“Most of the harvested fruit will be used to produce Serbia’s traditional plum brandy, sljivovica (slivovitz),” said Nenad Budimovic, secretary of the board of agriculture in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS). “While the bulk of plums in the country is still used for plum brandy production, around 6% is processed into dried plums and 2% is used by the canning industry.”
