Jun. 6, 2017Polonia: El aumento de las exportaciones de arándanos a los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (texto en inglés)
«Since we started exporting our blueberries to Dubai, the number of orders has increased by 60% every year,» explains Klaudia Szymańska, production manager in Poland and commercial manager and partner of Rivia Global Ziyad AlHousani in the United Arab Emirates. This is a product whose popularity in that area is on the rise, and this means that, at the moment, 70% of the country’s total production is exported. «It’s a very demanding market when it comes to products and logistics, but they pay the right price,» explains Szymańska.
Poland’s blueberry campaign kicks off in early July, so it is still a bit early to offer data, although marketing companies and the fruit’s producers are already getting ready.
However, it is worth noting that last year’s campaign started with a price of 14 Euro per kilo, and then the average ranged between a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 6.9 Euro. «These statistics usually depend mainly on the weather conditions, in addition to the production volume and the demand,» points out Szymańska. However, «there is a great demand for the black gold right now. Prices are still high and they will probably stay that way for a few more campaigns,» adds Szymańska.
Logistics is another point to consider, according to this Polish company. «Transport to the Emirates is done by ship, with each pallet covered with thermal blankets to protect it and ensure a constant average temperature,» explains Szymańska. Although this involves more work, the advantage is that the goods are fresher on arrival. «Transport to the rest of Europe is done by land, on refrigerated trucks, and always takes a couple of days or three,» says Szymańska, who obviously considers the process simpler to organise.
