In 2020, the Brazilian Food Service industry was severely impacted by COVID-19 and its turnover was BRL 365 billion (US$70.8 billion), a reduction of 21 percent compared to 2019. However, the projection for the end of 2021 is 16 percent growth, which demonstrates the sector’s high resilience. Brazilian imports of consumer-oriented products decreased by 1.9 percent in 2020.
The United States and the European Union lost 0.3 and 1.5 percent of the market share, respectively. On the other hand, China and Chile managed to gain 0.8 and 0.9 percent each due to having products with more accessible costs.
