Ago. 23, 2022Arándanos/EE.UU: esperan cosecha récord en el estado Washington
While the unusually cold and wet weather this summer has given it a late start, blueberry season has officially arrived in Washington. Surprisingly, this year’s yield is expected to be enormous: the Washington Blueberry Commission is predicting the harvest will be record-breaking.
“We are looking at the biggest blueberry harvest our state has ever had,” said Washington Blueberry Commission Executive Director Alan Schreiber. “Adding acreage again this year, the 24,000 total acres of Washington blueberries are expected to yield 180 million pounds this season.”
Consumers across Washington state will now find fresh, delicious blueberries at local grocery stores and farmers markets. They may also choose to spend a day outdoors with friends or family picking their own berries.
Many blueberry farms statewide are welcoming customers to come and pick their own blueberries. Bellevue residents don’t need to travel far from home to harvest their own blueberries at Larsen Lake Blueberry Farm, open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Blueberry fans also are in for a special treat at Trophy Cupcakes & Party locations this summer. Throughout August, the company is celebrating blueberry season with multiple Washington blueberry-themed menu items, such as Washington blueberry lemonade cake and blueberry macarons.
